Sodium bicarbonate is an alkaline compound commonly used as an antacid. It neutralizes excess stomach acid to provide temporary relief from occasional heartburn and acid indigestion.
Precaution: It adds sodium to your diet. Ask a healthcare professional before use if you have high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease, follow a low-sodium diet, or take medication.
